Teaching Tools:  

This program includes a few interesting features including a function that enables students to create their own geometric drawings or lab reports. This feature could be useful if a student or teacher needs an electronic representation of a problem for a presentation or to print and share with the class.

Study Works includes quizzes, text instruction, a glossary and representational drawings. They also provide links and additional geometry support online.

Topics Covered:  

This is an older product; however, in just one disc it covers a broad range of subjects through in-depth text and drawings. Overall, this program covers ten subjects including, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Statistics and Business Math.

The Geometry section covers all topics including geometry history, shapes, and angles and provides real–life examples, brainteasers, word problems and full explanations of answers. This is not a high tech program with fancy interactive games, but rather a good reference product. This would be a good choice for adults who need to brush up on a variety of math skills.

Ease of Use/Homework Help:  

Since this is an older program, it does not run as fast as some of the newer products. In terms of homework help, you have to go to a subject area, then look for your topic. For example, we opened the “trapezoid” section, then “exploring trapezoids.” Although we found quite a few formulas for trapezoids, we were looking for the length of the median in a particular trapezoid and did not find a direct answer.

In addition, although they post that they have online homework help, we found that all of their help pages were outdated.

Help/Documentation:  

This product includes a comprehensive inter–program help section with step–by–step instructions, online FAQs and email support.

Studyworks Teaching Pro: Mathematics Complete includes more information than many of the newer Geometry software, yet their homework pages are outdated. However, this may be a good choice for an adult who needs a reference source to update their math skills and does not have Internet access.
